Before I came here I hardly knew the city, but thanks to the AID (Annual Introduction Days) that changed pretty quickly. I heard from a lot of people that Wageningen University was an increasingly popular place to study, and I really noticed that during my first years here. Every year there are more new students, making Wageningen busier and therefore more fun.
In my first year I immediately joined the student’s union Ceres. This looked like a fun union to me, and it turned out I wasn’t wrong about that. You can find me there very regularly, and I have the best evenings! There are a lot of Ceres’ student houses. In one of these houses I felt at home straight away, and eventually I moved in there. This is undoubtedly the most unique student house in Wageningen and maybe even in the whole of the Netherlands. I live together with 8 housemates in a villa in the woods with a 7.5 acre garden (some people say I will probably never live in such a nice house again). I am very close with my housemates. Not only do we go to Ceres together, but we do a lot more things together, meaning I am never bored. There is always somebody to go cycling with, to go out with, or just to watch a movie with. And of course it is also nice to always eat with a big group of people, instead of just on your own!
The charm of Wageningen is the fact that it is so compact. Compared to other Dutch university towns it is pretty small. Because of this there is a pleasant atmosphere, you’re always running into people you know and it is easy to meet new people.
