I just started studying in Wageningen when I had said to myself I would go and look for a job after the introduction days. What kind of job I did not know yet, maybe something in the catering industry, a cleaning job or working in the supermarket. Any way I had to earn some money.
There was a music festival during the introduction days. At some point during the festivities, I entered one of the pubs that was close by. When I asked for five beers, the bartender curiously inquired whether I wanted a job with that order as well…
This is how it happened that I started working in H41 two weeks later. The place is something between a pub and a restaurant, situated in the Herenstraat, in the centre of Wageningen. After four years I still enjoy working here! The great colleagues and nice customers make me want to go back there every time again.
Many of my friends choose to go out for dinner at H41 when their parents visit them, for example. They can choose from traditional dishes like a schnitzel or a steak with the special ‘H41 sauce’, but even ostrich and kangaroo are on the menu! So there are many things you can eat, all for reasonable prices (which is not unimportant, when you are being a student).
The upper floor provides a room for parties such as those that are given when someone graduates. So it may it just happen that when you go to a party in Wageningen, that I will be tapping your beer or pouring your glass of wine...
Cheers,
Erik
